Last time when these 2 teams came across each other it was KXIP who won a thriller against the RPS and gained 2 points.
Starting from the Rising Pune Supergiants who is now out of the tournament but that is for the first time in the history of IPL that a team knocked out in the first round of the tournament which was led by MS Dhoni. RPS have played 13 matches in the tournament with 4 wins and 9 losses and they are at the 7th spot in the points table. The had a very good team and some really dazzling batsmen but the injuries destroyed all the dreams of RPS and they couldn’t have got the right combination which they were expecting. Kevin Pietersen, Steven Smith, Faf Du Plessis and Mitchell Marsh all got injured and ruled out of the tournament. MS Dhoni individual performance as a captain and as a batsmen weren’t up to the mark. The biggest blow for RPS was Ravichandran Ashwin who remained totally flop in the tournament and couldn’t perform up to the expectations of his fans as well as team. They played decent cricket in the tournament but remained unlucky as most of the time they couldn’t won close matches. Now they have just 1 match left and that is against KXIP who is also out of the tournament and not in a good form so RPS must be targeting to win this clash as win can surely help them to end this tournament in a much better way.
Coming towards the last number team of the KXIP who started their tournament with a lot of hopes and changes but couldn’t got the best result. They changed their captain and gave captaincy to David Miller who failed and couldn’t do much for the team. Then they changed their captain and now the leadership was handed to Murali Vijay who also couldn’t got the best result for the team. KXIP have played 13 matches so far and they have won just 4 while they have lost 9 matches. As a whole their performance in the whole tournament was very poor as most of the important players totally flopped and couldn’t got the best results for the team. Glenn Maxwell was a main batsman but he was totally flop in this tournament. Shaun Marsh got injured and ruled out of the tournament. The way they lost to RCB it was quite disappointing to watch. Now they have just 1 match left and they have to play with their heart and try to get the best possible result in the match.
The pitch is quite dry and hard and batsmen can easily score runs on it. There is no rain forecast for the match so far.
